Product Description

Look at these gorgeous turquoise teardrop earrings! Featuring 6mm turquoise beads. They are a perfect match to our Turquoise and Pearl Necklace!

We are all about the color this year... and turquoise is a beautiful medium that we have never worked with at The Pearl Girls!

The Stone

Turquoise is a beautiful stone, and I especially love this slightly veiny turquoise. This turquoise is natural and comes from the remote, mountainous region on Xinjiang, close to Mongolia and Kazakhstan. In fact, turquoise originates in certain dry and barren regions throughout the world. Think about the dry arid regions of the Southwestern U.S., where native Americans used to wear this stone.

It forms where acidic, copper-rich groundwater seeps downward and reacts with minerals that contain phosphorus and aluminum. The result of this sedimentary process is a porous, semitranslucent to opaque stone with gorgeous color!

Turquoise is among the world’s oldest jewelry! Think about the famous golden mask of Tutankhamun with inlay of lapis and turquoise! It has been found in ancient Egyptian tombs dating from 4000 B.C. Talk about a legacy.

Do you know what else is cool? The Egyptians called this beautiful stone “mefkat,” which, according to the GIA, also means “joy” and “delight.”

Joy and Delight

So, in the spirit of Joy and Delight, I am pleased to launch these new earrings! And, since we are The Pearl Girls, we couldn’t create a simple turquoise earring... we had to mix them with pearls, too! Voila! Turquoise and Pearls!

We also have a necklace! Check out the Turquoise and Pearl Necklace HERE!

We added these to a sterling silver French hook! Do you prefer pearls only? No problem, we can make this game design in pearls only!

Enjoy the Turquoise Teardrop Earrings! And, don’t forget to check out the matching turquoise necklace! Made with love in Athens, GA! Thanks, Pearl Girls!

Other fun tips about turquoise from the GIA: Turquoise is the traditional birthstone for the month of December and the gem of the 11th anniversary.
